Last Post for March '06

This will be my last post for this month.. I am going on vacation tomorrow!!! Bahamas, here we come!!! Thanks to my brother-in-law, the house is being lived in and the animals are being taken care of.. Like I would mention I was leaving town if the house wasn't going to be lived in. Not to mention, my gun totin' law man cousin lives one street over and will be constantly checking the house while we're gone. :) Can't wait.. Got some drinkin' to do, some relaxing to catch up on and some scuba to enjoy!!! There will be plenty of pics and stories on the website when I get back..
I just had to pass on one little tidbit of conversation I witnessed today at the Mall while Darling Bride and I were doing some last minute shopping for the cruise..
The following conversation happened between an older couple behind me in line at JC Penney.
Woman: I'm going to take these things to the car and then I'll meet you at the Food Court.
Man: Where is the Food Court?
Woman: Walk right down here and go down the stairs.
Man: Just right out there?
Woman: Yes.
Man: While you're at the car, don't forget to get my teeth.

Y'all have a great week, I know I am.

Movie Advice

If you are about to go on a Caribbean Cruise with some scuba diving scheduled during your trip: Don't watch "Open Water" the week before you leave.

Contact Info: Update, Update, Update.

You know all those little companies you do business with and have "Contact Info" online with them? Well, if you don't do business with them on a monthly basis like you do with most of your bill collectors, you may forget to update that information when you move, change email addresses, etc.. Yeah, well, any of you that tried to send me email over the weekend found out that I didn't keep my info updated on my domain name/web hosting business I deal with. Although my web hosting is a automatic recurring charge from my bank account, my domain name doesn't work the same way. They are to send me an email when renewal time comes around and then I pay for it. They did.. But, it was to my old dial up address I had when I lived in Cochran, over a year ago. I never updated my info, they didn't have the new stuff and my domain name expired on 10 March. So, if you sent email and got a "Mail Failure: Host Unknown" now you know why. I've updated my info and paid my fee, but it will take a day or so to get everything working again. Once the website comes back up, the mail will start flowing again. I changed the address for comments to go to until they get me back up and working, so comments can still come in..
Sorry about that.. Lesson Learned. Keep your Contact Info UPDATED!!!
On another note: Golf didn't go so bad last Thursday. Could have been better, but could have been a lot worse.. Still had a great time.. This picture was from the tournament. The Chaplain wanted to have his picture with everyone that golfed that day. L-R: Paul, our Chaplain (who is retiring and the reason for the golf tourney), me and Sid. Big Dawg, our 4th player, had to leave early and wasn't in the picture. We had a great time.. Hope everyone had a great weekend..

Golf Season

It's the start of the golf season for us. The first Golf tournament of the year is today. As I mentioned earlier, we aren't good. We go to be outside, have fun, and to have a few brews. Because of this, we only play Best Ball and Scramble format golf. It's supposed to be in the mid 70's here today, so it will be a nice one out there. For all of you stuck at work, my apologies.
Even Heather gives the game a shot.. This is a picture of her in a tournament last year. (She's the short one.lol).. Of course, being "with child" has put a halt on her golfing for the time being, but we'll get her back out there sooner or later. Y'all have a great day.. I know I'm going too... :)

Senior Moment

When you get to be my age, you start to have more and more of these. For the last two days, I have been pulling a rescheduled UTA for my Air Force Reserve duty. Meaning: I’ve been coming in wearing my Air Force uniform instead of my street clothes to work. Tuesdays and Thursdays are my PT (Physical Training) days where, normally, Sid and I play racquetball. We have a golf tournament on Thursday and since neither of us have swung a club since our last tournament back in October or November, we decided to hit the driving range instead of the racquetball court. Sid also bought a new set of clubs yesterday so, he wanted to try and get used them. Although, with the way we play, “getting used to them” is just a bunch of words. We play golf to be outside, have a good time and drink a few beers. Neither of us are good and neither of us care that we aren’t good. We’re just there for fun. But, that’s not the reason for this write up..
Of course, neither of us wanted to go to the driving range in uniform, so we changed here at work into shorts and t-shirts and went to the range. After a 4 month break, it’s official: we both still suck. After we finished, we went our separate ways. As I got home, I had a bunch of stuff to unload from the truck. Golf clubs, uniform, cell phone and all those extras you carry with you everyday and I had to go to curb to pick up the big rolling trash can since it was trash day and pick up the mail. I grabbed my uniform, boots, and extras and laid them on the back of truck and went and got the trash can and mail. I came back up, put way the clubs, trash can, etc, grabbed my uniform and all and headed in the house. I leave the house today about 6:20 am and head to base. My house is about 7-8 miles from base and take 1 4-lane divided road there. Not a hard drive at all. I get about 5-6 miles down the road this morning and a truck pulls up beside me with the driver waving his arms to get my attention. I roll down my window and look at him. “Your boots are on your bumper!!” Great. Thank You!!! I stop at the next red light and get out. Lo and behold, they are both still on there. I toss them in the bed of the truck and look at the driver behind me with a look that says, “Yes, I’m an idiot.” How they stayed on there, I’ll never know.. There is a 70 mph stretch on this road that I had already passed. Whatever. I’m just grateful for the guy that told me they were back there. Sometimes, getting old is a bitch.

Another Test

Just another test to see if I can work this new blog thing.. Not much going on to talk about. No diving this weekend, no flying this weekend, not even a Cup race this weekend. The Busch Boys and some Busch-Whackers are in Mexico, but it's not the same. I'm seriously think about sitting down and doing my taxes, but I just don't have the patience to deal with that 4 hour process just yet.. The real reason for this was to post a picture to see how it was going to look on the site..
How do you know when your dog doesn't want you to go on a week long cruise? The reason I'm thinking of this is, we are about to go on another cruise in a few weeks and the picture you see is what we went through last September when we were getting ready to go. Ripley knows what the suitcase means. He sits in it, pulls our clothes out of it and makes it very hard to get everything ready to go. Smart dog, if you ask me. But, since the baby is due in July, we had to get our vacation out of the way sooner this year since it will be the last real one we take for a year or so. So, we're headed on another cruise to the Bahamas this time. We were supposed to hit Nassau last year, but Hurricane Rita had something to say about that. She pounded the Bahamas, so we were diverted to San Juan, PR instead. That was a great stop, but we would like to see the Bahamas this year, especially since I heard about the great diving there. Can't wait to try it out. Of course, the trip write up will be on my website, not the blog. You'll have to visit my website if you are interested in those pictures and stories. Until next time...

First Entry

Hey Y'all.
I was told the blog on my personal site was kind of boring to look at, so, along with the constructive criticism BP gave me, he also gave me a way to make it better. By using this site, it should make my entries easier to read and more enjoyable to the eye.. We'll see. The first couple of posts will be tests, so bear with me while I work out the bugs..
